HUTCHINS/QIANG DUO
Saxophonist Jeffery Kyle Hutchins and pianist Neil Nanyi Qiang have been performing together since 2014 while both doctoral students at the University of Minnesota. Former members of the graduate student ensemble CMW (Contemporary Music Workshop), under the artistic direction of James Dillon, and both current members of the Minneapolis based 113 Collective, the Hutchins/Qiang Duo specializes in performing adventurous programs of contemporary chamber music for saxophone and piano. Their recent program SONDER, which included the premiere of Jeremy Wagner's Zusammenfluss, commissioned by New Music USA, was described by the composer as "one of the most technically challenging saxophone recitals I have ever witnessed." Qiang is Assistant Professor of Piano at Central State University in Ohio and Hutchins is Artist/Teacher of Saxophone at Virginia Tech. For more information, please visit:
